It sure is cold outside! Was it as hard for you to get out of your warm bed and go out int he cold this morning as it was for me? We are blessed to have a home with a warm bed and blankets. Some people are less fortunate and do not have enough blankets, or even a bed or a home. With the recent frigid temperatures, it is dangerous for the homeless community. The Reach Team would like to help by collecting blankets for a project we call “Covered with Love.”
Throughout the month of January, we will have a collection box in the Narthex. Our goal is to collect 300 blankets to distribute to people who do not have enough blankets and to the homeless community. We ask you to go home and check your closets for gently used blankets or sleeping bags. If you do not have extras, many stores have blankets on sale now. If you could purchase one or two blankets and place them in the collection box in the Narthex, we will distribute them right away to those who need to be “covered with love.”
For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore, I command you, “You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy, and to the poor in your land.” ~Deuteronomy 15:11
Thank you for your help and care.
