Are you dead in the Spirit?

“Come Alive (Dry Bones)” by Lauren Daigle

This past Sunday, our associate pastor Erin sang “Come Alive (dry bones)” then preached from Ezekiel 37:1-14.  Erin has a beautiful voice, heart and soul.  She preaches with passion.  Anyone who hears her knows that she carries the Spirit in her.  But this day she wanted to know if we carried the Spirit in us!

To be dead in the Spirit would be a sin, a crime against Jesus who gave the Spirit to the world of believers.  We should rejoice at having that Spirit.  We should let the world know that we have that Spirit.  For in rejoicing and professing such, we would do wonders towards spreading the Word.  Others in the world would know we are Christians, that we are saved by grace and belief in the one true Son of God.  We were set free by the loving act of Jesus dying on the cross — free from sin, from Jewish law and from death.  Do we show that freedom and blessing?  Do you smile at the start of a new day?  Do you sing just to let loose the music in your head?

Are you dead in the Spirit?  Don’t be! For Christ is alive!  He is alive in you and me and anyone who believes in Him.
