Today’s sermon was about the gifts that God has given us and using them. How each one of us has been given a gift by the Holy Spirit that make us unique and beautiful, but that if we use those gifts with others in our church family, we make an even more beautiful masterpiece crafted by the Master. Like chips of colored glass that shimmer and shine in the sun light as they lay on the table or floor, when we come together to work as the body of Christ, we can be spectacular like the stain glass windows that fill our sanctuary with light.
But what is my gift? That is the question that we asked in Disciples 1 class when we covered Romans. There are 19 different categories that the Spiritual Gifts fall into: administration, apostleship, discernment, evangelism, exhortation, faith, giving, healing, interpretation of tongues, knowledge, leadership, mercy, miracles, pastor, prophesy, serving, speaking in tongues, teaching, and wisdom. It is hard to say what my gifts are without lots of soul searching. Instead, Pastor Erin gave us this online test to help: https://spiritualgiftstest.com/spiritual-gifts-test-adult-version/.
Knowing that my gift is in administration, makes it easier for me to understand that I like paying attention to details and planning things. It points me in the direction that I can use to serve both my church family and God.
What about you? Do you know what your gift, or gifts, is? Do you know where you fit in the puzzle that is the body of Christ — that is our church family acting in the way of ministering to our community? I encourage you to take the quiz and learn.
Also I encourage you to participate! Use your gift! Become a part of the body of Christ!
